Awful Nomenclature of the Week

I’m attending the DeLange Conference on Emerging Libraries–an excellent conference with lots of prominent speakers–but I have to share this pet peeve. The phrase that has been used by two different speakers to describe the environment we’re currently living in: “the brewing perfect storm of opportunity.” I count three mixed metaphors there. Blech.

Maybe someone told them they *had* to say it?
I found your post through Technorati - you appear to be the only one who has blogged anything at all about this conference. I had wanted to attend due to the range of speakers, but could not due to schedule conflicts but was hoping that I could catch stuff through blogs. Is this a non-blogging crowd? Any other blogs I should look at for more info?
I don’t do liveblogging well, but I’ll try to write something up about it. The audio is available as a podcast through the Rice Events series, or downloadable as individual files, at http://webcast.rice.edu.
Perhaps you could explain what an emerging library is? And how can I get in on the action? Heh.
